2019 will see the release of a fabulous new collaborative album featuring two of the brightest and most charismatic young stars of British Jazz. Emma Smith & Jamie Safir (aka Smith & Safir) are long time collaborators and best of friends who have finally decided to mark the fruits of their collective labour with an album and an international tour. Collectively they have worked with; Michael Bublé, Seal, Will Young, Annie Lennox, Kurt Elling, Olly Murs, Robbie Williams, Goldie, The Puppini Sisters and are both regular performers at the world’s most famous Jazz club – Ronnie Scott’s.
Emma is an award-winning vocalist who has appeared on Graham Norton, Strictly Come Dancing, The One Show, at the Royal Albert Hall and Jazz clubs and festivals all over the world. She is also a BBC Radio 3 Presenter, hosting ‘Jazz Now’ for last 3 years. She has exceptional reviews from the national press and has been part of projects signed to record labels such as Decca and Verve. Jamie Safir is a renowned virtuoso Pianist, Arranger and Composer who recently played on Jim Steinman’s ‘Bat Out Of Hell’ in the West End and has also worked with Rebecca Ferguson, Steps, Clare Teal, Claire Martin & The Brand New Heavies.
Together they form Smith and Safir and have been delighting audiences with their witty and touching performances that move through many captivating musical styles. For this last year, the inimitable pair have been working on a collection of brand new arrangements and compositions that is sure to be a success both live and on the radio. It includes unique re-interpretations of classics like ‘Faith’, ‘Moondance’ & ‘Sweet Dreams’ as well as some beautiful takes on lesser known Broadway gems such as ‘I Don’t Care’ & ‘Where Am I Going?’.
